Common lockout situations

  • The door has shut behind you with the keys inside
  • Keys lost on a night out or stolen
  • The key turns but the door won't open
  • A uPVC door handle has failed and the door won't open
  • A tenant or family member has changed the locks

How we solve it

Most front doors can be opened without damage. Nightlatches (Yale-type locks) can often be slipped or bypassed. uPVC and composite doors can be opened with specialist tools. Mortice deadlocks may need picking. If a lock can't be opened without damage, your locksmith will explain why and agree a replacement with you before drilling.

Locked Out of House: common questions

Will I need to prove I live there?

Your locksmith may ask for ID or proof of address once inside. This protects you and stops people being let into homes that aren't theirs.

I rent. Can you still help?

Yes. Let your landlord know, as some tenancies require any lock change to be approved.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the lock, the work and the time of day. Your locksmith will tell you the price before starting, and nothing goes ahead until you agree.
