Quick answer
Usually, yes. Many multipoint lock faults are caused by a worn gearbox, a dropped door or a misaligned keep. These can often be adjusted or the gearbox replaced without changing the whole strip.
Signs of a multipoint lock problem
The handle is stiff or won't lift, the key won't turn fully, the handle drops loose, or the door only locks if you push or lift it hard.
What can be repaired
Hinges and keeps can be adjusted so the hooks and rollers line up again. A broken centre gearbox can often be replaced on its own, if a matching part is available.
When the whole strip is replaced
If the mechanism is obsolete, badly corroded or several parts have failed, replacing the full multipoint strip is often better value. Your locksmith should explain the options and agree the price first.
Don't force it
Forcing a stiff handle is the most common way a gearbox snaps, which can leave the door stuck locked. Call a locksmith as soon as it starts getting stiff.
